The Story of Us

How we met

July 7, 2016

Andrew and Emma met at an Opera House Players board meeting a few weeks after Emma joined the board. Andrew had been on the board for three years, and Emma had been involved with the theatre for about two years, but somehow their paths had never crossed. Andrew introduced himself by saying "You're Emma right? I've heard of you!"

After their first introductions, they didn't see each other again for three months, but they were reunited at the OHP October board meeting. After the meeting they went to Denny's with some friends for late night snacks and chatting. They sat side by side and this is where they really got to know each other. Emma and Andrew hit it off instantly and afterwards Andrew drove Emma home. They ended up sitting in the driveway talking until 1 AM; the first of many deep (and rambling) conversations.

How we got together

October 22, 2016

Over the weeks that followed that Denny's trip Andrew and Emma spent two more theatre events together, went to a debate viewing party, and shared late night dinner after each of them. On October 22nd, Emma went to Andrew's house to help bake Halloween brownies for his coworkers. Afterwards they shared pizza and binge-watched Agent Carter. This was also the night that they shared their first kiss. A week later on the 27th Emma and Andrew went on their first "official" date at Rein's Deli, but the 22nd is the day that they consider their anniversary.

First trip to Disney

January 18, 2017

Andrew and Emma shared some more significant moments in the years that followed. In January 2017 they went on our first vacation together, to Disney World, where they captured many magical moments and shared in their mutual love of Disney. On their first anniversary Andrew asked Emma to move in, the answer was yes of course. They also went to many broadway shows, baseball games, and quite a few trips in the years that followed.

Proposal

January 20, 2020

In January 2020, 3 years after their first trip, Andrew and Emma went back to Disney World for another magical vacation. Emma flew down to Florida a few days early to spend some time with her grandparents, then took a bus to meet up with Andrew in Orlando.

Andrew got to the resort early and texted Emma to say that he would kill some time by going on a vacation club tour in exchange for a free raffle entry. An hour into the bus ride Emma received a (very convincing, but fake) email forwarded by Andrew announcing that they had won a private fireworks boat tour the following evening.

So the next day after their first fun-filled afternoon in the parks, Emma and Andrew made their way to the Seven Seas Lagoons dock, met the captain and the photographer that would be joining them on their cruise, and boarded the boat. After a windy and chilly tour of the Bay Lake and enjoying an array of delicious treats, the captain dropped anchor outside of the Magic Kingdom to settle in for the Fireworks.

The last line of the fireworks narration says "Reach out and find your happily ever after," a fitting cue for the finale. As this line played and the music swelled and the fireworks culminated, Andrew got down on one knee and, as they say, the rest is history.
